Artist Jennylynd James receives an Honourable Mention Award in the Acrylics Category for her painting Jazz Trio, presented at the Society of York Regional Artists (SOYRA) Fall Show, Art in the Valley, held at St. Andrews Golf Course, in Aurora, Ontario. This is the first award for James, an emerging artist!

S. Walter Stewart, Toronto Public Library, June 1st – 30th
Jennylynd James is an author, an artist and a soprano, and to add balance to this triple threat she is also a scientist with a Ph.D. in food science and molecular genetics from McGill University.
Jennylynd presents work from her collection of Caribbean folk art and miniature series at S. Walter Stewart Library in support of the 2015 Pan Am and Para Pan Games.
Paintings will adorn the walls of the John S. Ridout auditorium and may be viewed during regular library hours. Everyone is welcome.

Jennylynd (Lindy) James, Ph.D.
Dr. Jennylynd James, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, studied Food Science at McGill University and worked in this field for over 15 years in Florida, California and in Ireland. While living in the seaside village of Tramore, Ireland, she was introduced to oil painting techniques through private instruction. Lindy uses vivid colours and the rich culture of dance, Carnival art, and theatre to influence her work. Lindy now resides in Bloor West Village, Toronto.
‘Art By Lindy James’ is an exhibit of original oil paintings and sketches showing colourful aspects of Caribbean life including traditional Carnival characters of Trinidad and Tobago. The exhibit coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations of...
